Houston: The importance of the midterm elections has grown significantly for Pakistani Americans and the broader Muslim community in the United States amid concerns over controversial policies under the Trump administration and rising Islamophobia. Against this backdrop, a special voter-awareness campaign has been launched with the goal of increasing the Muslim voter turnout rate from a disappointing 15 percent to 60 percent.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among Pakistani Americans and other Muslim citizens about the importance of voter registration and exercising their right to vote, enabling them to play a more active role in the U.S. political and electoral process.
During a special awareness session organized by Pakistani American leaders to highlight the importance of voting, speakers urged all eligible Muslim Americans and members of the Pakistani American community to complete their voter registration by October 5 and ensure their full participation in the upcoming elections.
Participants emphasized that Muslim Americans must play an active role in the political and electoral process to protect their community’s interests and strengthen their representation. They stressed that voter registration and participation in elections are important tools for amplifying the community’s political voice.
Speakers also called on community leaders, young people, and volunteers to raise greater awareness about voter registration and encourage eligible members of the community to become active participants in the electoral process.
