The Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH) brought the community together at the Stafford Civic Center with the stage play “Sohni Dharti”, presented as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations. The event drew an impressive audience of families, community leaders, and distinguished guests, who gathered to honor Pakistan’s culture and heritage in a spirit of patriotism.

Organized in collaboration with Legacy Pointe Events and supported by local sponsors, the evening combined cultural celebration with engaging entertainment. A special highlight was a raffle draw for a complimentary round-trip ticket to Pakistan, generously sponsored by Turkish Airlines, which added further excitement to the program.

Penned by acclaimed writer Masood Ahmed, directed by Umar Farooq, and produced by Shahid Iqbal, the play captivated spectators with its strong themes, compelling direction, and vibrant performances. The hall was filled to capacity, and the audience responded with repeated rounds of applause, acknowledging the cast and crew’s hard work and dedication.

While many praised “Sohni Dharti” as a memorable addition to Houston’s Independence Day festivities, some viewers noted that a few dialogues could have carried greater impact, with certain scenes leaning towards a more casual tone.

Overall, the production was hailed as a cultural triumph, showcasing Houston’s diverse talent and community spirit. The Pakistan Association of Greater Houston extended its gratitude to all sponsors, partners, and attendees for contributing to the success of this celebration.
