Houston Offers Free, Family-Friendly Events for Spring Break 2025

With spring break bringing pleasant weather, families across Houston can look forward to a variety of free activities designed for all ages. From educational workshops to live performances and art exhibitions, these events provide an exciting and budget-friendly way to celebrate the break.

Below is a lineup of free, family-friendly events happening from Monday, March 10, to Sunday, March 16:

FUNomenal Spring Break at Discovery Green (March 10-14, 12-4 PM)

Discovery Green will host a STEAM-focused event featuring interactive experiences such as robotics demonstrations, science experiments, and music workshops. Houston’s only outdoor roller-skating rink will also be open (skating fee applies).

Spring Break at Sugar Land Town Square (March 10-15, Lunchtime)

Children and families can enjoy daily afternoon performances in Sugar Land Town Square. Guests are welcome to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the show, but coolers are not permitted.

Asia Society Texas’ Spring Break: Journey to the Moon (March 11 & 14, 11 AM-2 PM)

Children will embark on an interactive mission to the moon, where they will solve challenges and learn about Asian history and mythology. The event is free, but registration is required.

Menil Collection’s Free Public Art Museum (March 12-16, 11 AM-7 PM)

Visitors can explore the Menil Collection’s world-class galleries, featuring surrealist art, modern works, and cultural pieces from Africa and the Pacific Islands.

Free Family Night at Galveston Children’s Museum (March 13, 4-7 PM)

Families can enjoy an evening of interactive exhibits and hands-on learning at the Galveston Children’s Museum, free of charge.

Spring Break Community Celebration at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (March 15, 1-4 PM)

This celebration of Latino and Hispanic heritage will feature art activities for families and an exhibition by Vincent Valdez, “Just a Dream…”

Little BIPOC Book Fest at Discovery Green (March 15, 10:30 AM-2:30 PM)

This free book festival is designed for children ages 3-10, featuring diverse stories and literature that highlight Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC).

With so many free events available, Houstonians can make the most of their spring break while exploring art, science, culture, and community engagement—without breaking the bank!
