An Unlikely Find Among Rodeo Favorites
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is back, bringing its famous deep-fried delights. But hidden near the Hideout Bar, a unique food stall is redefining Rodeo eats—Asian Streetness, the event’s only Asian food vendor.
For the third year in a row, owners Ann and Phuong Dang are introducing Rodeo visitors to bold Asian street food flavors, featuring dishes like Korean corn dogs, a pho-inspired burger, and more.

From Restaurant Owners to Rodeo Food Innovators
The Dangs, former owners of Moi Vietnamese Kitchen in Katy, saw their restaurant close during the pandemic. They shifted gears, launching Asian Streetness as a festival food business. Since then, they’ve served at major events like Tokyo X Festival and Austin’s Circuit of the Americas.
In 2023, they took a leap and applied for the Houston Rodeo’s competitive food lineup—a move they never expected to succeed. “I never thought we’d get picked,” Ann admitted. “Asian food hasn’t had a place at the Rodeo in years.”
A Fresh Take on Rodeo Eats
The Rodeo is known for its over-the-top snacks—fried butter, deep-fried Oreos, and Kool-Aid pickles—but Asian Streetness is proving there’s room for more.
Determined to stay true to Asian flavors, Ann created dishes that merge tradition with a fun, fair-friendly twist. Past favorites have included the Birria Bun-rrito, a fusion of Vietnamese bun bo hue and birria tacos, and the “Un-pho-gettable” burger, packed with the flavors of pho in a single bite.
Award-Winning Street Food
Asian Streetness quickly made waves, winning at the Golden Buckle Foodie Awards:
🏆 Silver for their pho burger
🏆 Bronze for their Korean corn dog
🏆 Second place in 2024 for their wonton nachos and fried dumplings
This year, they’re back with exciting new dishes:
✅ Crab Rangoon Egg Rolls
✅ Brisket Fried Rice
✅ Snack Pack Combo – featuring Korean fried chicken with a choice of Vietnamese coffee or butterfly pea tea lemonade

Ann hopes to see more diversity at the Rodeo in the future. “Houston is a melting pot, and every culture has street food. We’re just bringing those flavors to a bigger stage.”
