HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A deadly shooting early Sunday morning at an unlicensed bar operating inside a warehouse in north Harris County left one man dead and three others injured.
Authorities revealed that the establishment on Mitchell Street, posing as a window tinting business, was an illegal “pop-up late-hour club.”
Fatal Argument Leads to Violence
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began with an argument between two individuals, escalating into gunfire that struck other attendees.
“When officers arrived, they found two people with minor gunshot wounds and one man who had been severely beaten,” said Sergeant Ben Beall of the HCSO Homicide Unit.
A fourth victim, who was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle, later succumbed to their injuries.
Suspect Arrested and Pending Charges
HCSO units responded to the 200 block of Mitchell and arrested a man connected to the shooting. Investigators plan to charge the suspect later in the day.
Growing Concern Over Unlicensed Clubs
The shooting highlights a troubling rise in unlicensed “pop-up” clubs in Houston. These makeshift venues often operate under false pretenses, posing safety risks to attendees.
“We need to investigate who rents these properties and whether they’re using fake names,” added Sgt. Beall.
Just last weekend, six teenagers were shot at another illegal party venue in northeast Houston, underscoring the urgent need for enforcement against these unauthorized establishments.
