Houston: The University of Karachi Alumni Association Houston organized a series of important meetings during the visit of Professor Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Vice Chancellor of NED University of Engineering and Technology, who has also assumed additional responsibilities at the University of Karachi, to explore opportunities for collaboration with American educational institutions.
The delegation met with Sugar Land Mayor Carol McCutcheon, Houston City College President Dr. Rima Adil, and Vice President Jay Neal and the administration at the University of Houston’s Sugar Land campus. Discussions focused on artificial intelligence, online education, student exchange programs, and opportunities for access to modern educational resources. Professor Dr. Muhammad Tufail was also presented with honorary proclamations.

According to Muhammad Azam Akhtar, president of the association, discussions with the American institutions are at an initial stage. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) and practical cooperation initiatives may be pursued following the completion of necessary approvals and institutional requirements.
A reception held in honor of Professor Dr. Muhammad Tufail was attended by Texas State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani, prominent members of the Pakistani American community, and University of Karachi alumni. Dr. Lalani presented a proclamation to the visiting dignitary.

Muhammad Azam Akhtar said the association is committed not only to providing scholarships and financial assistance but also to connecting the University of Karachi with international educational institutions and creating new opportunities for students. Dr. Tufail appreciated the association’s hospitality and efforts to strengthen academic ties.
