Reception in Houston Honors Rana Qasim Muhammad Noon, Panel Discussion Highlights Kashmir Issue

Houston: A reception was hosted in Houston by Consul General Aftab Chaudhry and prominent Democratic leader Tahir Javed in honor of Rana Qasim Muhammad Noon, Chairman of the National Assembly of Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir. A panel discussion was also held on the Kashmir issue, United Nations resolutions, and the latest situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

The panel featured Rana Qasim Muhammad Noon, Consul General Aftab Chaudhry, prominent Democratic leader Tahir Javed, Kashmir Committee Chairperson Ghazala Habib, and renowned writer and journalist Ghazanfar Hashmi. The participants shared their perspectives on various aspects of the Kashmir dispute, efforts to highlight the issue internationally, and the importance of representing the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Qasim Muhammad Noon said that Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif had delivered a statesmanlike address at the United Nations, sending a clear message to the international community that lasting peace in the region would remain elusive unless the Kashmir dispute was resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions. He emphasized the importance of international attention and engagement in achieving a just resolution to the longstanding dispute.

Host Tahir Javed said that Rana Qasim Muhammad Noon’s visit to Houston and the discussions held during the event provided the Pakistani American community with valuable information about developments concerning Kashmir at the United Nations and the latest situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He highlighted the importance of such discussions in keeping the community informed about significant national and international issues.

Ghazala Habib, chairperson of the Kashmir Committee, said that the Kashmir conference held under the chairmanship of Rana Qasim Muhammad Noon conveyed a clear message that Kashmiris living across the United States seek a resolution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions. She also stressed the importance of continuing international efforts to highlight the issue and effectively present the position of the Kashmiri people.

The event provided members of the Pakistani American community with an opportunity to exchange views on the Kashmir issue and gain firsthand insights into important national and international developments. Participants emphasized the need for sustained international attention and effective diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful and just resolution to the Kashmir dispute.
