In response to the recent devastating flash floods in Central Texas, the Pakistani and American communities in Houston came together for a heartfelt display of solidarity and remembrance. Organized by the Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH), a condolence and prayer gathering took place on Sunday evening at the Pakistan Center on 12638 Bissonnet Street.

The event, which began at 6:30 PM, was attended by Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry, alongside a significant number of community members. It provided a space for collective grieving, reflection, and offering prayers for the lives lost and families affected by the tragic floods in Texas Hill Country.
Consul General Chaudhry expressed profound sorrow over the loss of life and devastation caused by the floods, stating, “Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy. We extend our deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones, and we stand beside the survivors during this difficult time.”
Siraj Narsi, President of PAGH, also addressed the audience with a message of comfort and unity, saying, “We pray for the departed souls and hope their families find the strength to navigate this immense pain. The entire Houston community stands in support and solidarity with the victims.”

The prayer meeting was open to all, emphasizing inclusivity and compassion beyond cultural and religious boundaries. Attendees offered silent prayers and heard moving reflections highlighting unity, resilience, and community compassion during times of disaster.
The presence of Consul General Chaudhry underscored the Pakistani government’s commitment to supporting its diaspora and engaging in humanitarian causes in the U.S. His participation served as a powerful reminder of the bonds that unite communities, especially during times of shared grief.
PAGH continues to urge community members to support local relief efforts and offer assistance to those impacted by the flooding.
