As Ramadan nears its end, American Muslims are urged to complete their Zakat al-Fitr payments by contributing $15 per family member before the Eid al-Fitr prayer.

Purpose of Zakat al-Fitr

Also known as Fitrana, Zakat al-Fitr is a mandatory charitable donation designed to help underprivileged families participate in Eid celebrations. Religious scholars stress the importance of paying it before the Eid prayer to ensure timely distribution to those in need.

An Essential Religious Duty

Islamic teachings state that Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory for every financially capable Muslim. It serves as a means of purification for the fasting person while also supporting those facing financial hardship.

How to Contribute

Muslims are encouraged to fulfill this obligation by donating through local mosques or reputable charitable organizations, which will distribute the funds to deserving families and individuals.

Call for Timely Donations

Community leaders emphasize the need for prompt payments, highlighting that early contributions help ensure all members of the community can celebrate Eid without financial struggles.

For more information on donation methods and distribution, individuals are advised to reach out to local mosques or recognized charitable organizations.
