University of Houston Hosts 11th Annual Islamic Arts Festival
The 11th Annual Islamic Arts Festival, the largest and longest-running event of its kind in the U.S., took place in November 2024 at the University of Houston, drawing artists and visitors from across the country to celebrate Islamic art, culture, and heritage.
What started as a small exhibition in 2014 by a group of Houston-based art enthusiasts has since grown into a major national event. The festival showcases stunning artwork on canvas, paper, wood, glass, and ceramic tiles, offering a vibrant display of creativity.
Last year, the festival featured 5,000 art pieces by over 50 artists, many of which were available for purchase. Visitors also enjoyed spoken word performances, an academic seminar, and interactive art sessions on calligraphy, henna, and ebru painting.
The festival continues to serve as a platform for artists to share their work and for the community to experience the beauty of Islamic art in new and meaningful ways.
