Bush Airport Unveils Terminal E Upgrades Ahead of Spring Break Rush

Renovations Aim to Ease Traffic & Improve Passenger Experience

Travelers at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) can expect smoother check-ins and less congestion as new upgrades to Terminal E were officially unveiled on Monday—just in time for the busy spring break travel season.

Key Upgrades at Terminal E

The newly renovated Terminal E now features:
✅ A new lobby
✅ 10 TSA security lanes for faster screenings
✅ Renewed drop-off lane access
✅ Direct check-in for United Airlines passengers, eliminating the need to check in at Terminal C

“These improvements mean more space, quicker security screenings, and a better overall experience for passengers,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports. The changes also help relieve congestion at Terminal C, making travel more efficient for all passengers.

Spring Break Travel Surge Expected

The renovations come just in time for the anticipated 1.8 million passengers expected to pass through the airport between March 6 and March 17.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire praised the upgrades but emphasized that more work remains:
“Expanding security lanes, improving check-in, and reducing congestion are steps in the right direction—but our job isn’t done.”

With these upgrades, Houston Airports is committed to delivering a smoother, more efficient travel experience for all passengers.
