KATY, Texas – An AMBER Alert has been issued for 15-year-old Alexa Jones, who went missing after a family game night on December 12. Her family is urgently seeking her safe return.
The Disappearance
- On the night of December 12, Alexa attended a family movie night and went to bed at her Katy home on Otter Trail Court.
- The following morning, around 5:30 a.m., her mother noticed that Alexa was gone. She has never run away before, making her disappearance highly unusual.
- Despite an immediate search by the family and a call to the authorities, the case was not treated with urgency, according to the family.
Communication with Alexa
- Alexa has a phone that works only with Wi-Fi. Her older sister received a few emails from Alexa on December 14 and 15.
- In the last email, Alexa stated that she was safe and had been allowed to charge her phone at a Starbucks by a stranger. She mentioned she was planning to call for a ride.“I’m about to call them to pick me up. Is momma and the baby OK?”
- Since then, the family has not heard from Alexa.
The Search and Urgency
- On December 19, an AMBER Alert was issued after authorities expressed concern that Alexa could be in imminent danger.
- Alexa’s mother described the situation as “torture,” emphasizing how devastating it is to not know where her daughter is.“If this was your daughter, one of your worst fears would be not knowing where your child was at,” she said.
