SUGAR LAND: Texas State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani hosted and led “The People’s Hearing,” organized by the Texas Legislative Progressive Caucus, bringing together lawmakers, faith and interfaith leaders, community representatives, and health care experts.
The program was attended by Texas House members Dr. Suleman Lalani, Chairman Gene Wu, Chairwoman Christina Morales, and John Bryant, along with District Attorney Brian M. Middleton and Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy.

The event featured testimony from faith and interfaith leaders, health care professionals, researchers, policy experts, and community advocates, who shared their perspectives, experiences, and recommendations.
Participants discussed two major issues facing Texas: the rise of hate and increasing health care costs. The discussion also examined the impact of these issues on communities, current challenges, and potential policy responses.

According to the organizers, “The People’s Hearing” was designed to bring together voices from different sectors and communities and provide a platform for hearing directly from residents about public concerns, experiences, and recommendations. A large number of people attended the event, while many others participated online.
The event concluded with appreciation for everyone who attended and watched online. Organizers also reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration and collective efforts to address important public issues facing Texas and work toward positive progress.
