HOUSTON: The Pakistani American Congress hosted a dinner reception in Houston, Texas, in honor of Federal Minister for the Board of Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh. The event was attended by Pakistani community leaders, business figures, and prominent members of the community.
During the reception, Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh was presented with certificates of appreciation on behalf of U.S. Congressman Al Green and Texas State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani, a Pakistani-American member of the Texas Legislature.
Pakistan’s Consul General Aftab Chaudhry, President of the Pakistani American Congress Dr. Ashraf Abbasi, President of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston Imran Gazi, President of the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association Saeed Sheikh, prominent businessman Iqbal Sheikh, and Dr. Mazhar Chaudhry also addressed the gathering.
The speakers discussed Pakistan-U.S. relations, opportunities for investment and economic cooperation, and the role of the Pakistani-American community in strengthening ties between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, host and President of the Pakistani American Congress Dr. Ashraf Abbasi highlighted various issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and called for effective measures to address their concerns. He expressed concern that the issues confronting overseas Pakistanis have not received adequate attention from successive governments in Pakistan.
Participants also emphasized the need to further strengthen economic and trade relations between Pakistan and the United States, improve facilities and services for overseas Pakistanis, and create a more conducive environment for investment in Pakistan.
