PAVA Hosts Town Hall in Houston to Advance Civic Engagement

The Pakistani American Voters Association (PAVA) recently organized a town hall meeting in Houston, bringing together more than 30 representatives from local organizations. The gathering focused on civic engagement, legislative priorities, and strengthening the voice of the community.

Rep. Suleman Lalani Highlights Legislative Efforts

The event featured Dr. Suleman Lalani, Texas State Representative, who shared updates on his legislative work and community initiatives. He emphasized how policy advocacy and grassroots efforts can help Pakistani Americans achieve their collective goals.

Recognizing PAVA Leadership

PAVA leaders including Abdur Rauf Khan, Azam Akhter, A. Rehman Patel, Nabila Mansoor, Sattar Qureshi, Shahab Alvi, Sofia Shaikh, and Moiz Abbas were recognized for their dedication in mobilizing the community and fostering meaningful dialogue.

Strengthening Democratic Participation

Organizers noted that the town hall was part of PAVA’s larger mission—to educate and mobilize Pakistani American voters, strengthen democratic participation, and advocate for policies that uplift communities.

Special Recognition for Ibn Sina Foundation

On a separate occasion, Rep. Suleman Lalani expressed his honor at receiving a Special Recognition Award from the Ibn Sina Foundation. For more than 20 years, Ibn Sina has provided essential healthcare services to underserved communities in the Houston area.

“It was a pleasure to join Chairman Rupani and the dedicated Ibn Sina team in celebrating this milestone,” Lalani said, acknowledging the foundation as a vital pillar of support for those most in need.
