Renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is set to perform at a charity concert titled ‘Echoes of Revolution’ on December 21 at the Army Stadium in Dhaka.
Organized by Spirits of July
The event is organized by Spirits of July, a platform initiated by students from Dhaka University. The concert aims to raise funds for the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation, which provides support to families of martyrs and individuals injured during the July uprising against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A Night of Music for a Cause
During a press conference held at Madhu’s Canteen in Dhaka University, the organizers announced that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will perform free of charge. The concert will also showcase performances from prominent Bangladeshi bands including Artcell, Chirkutt, Ashes, and Aftermath, as well as rap artists Sezan and Hannan.

Additional Attractions
In addition to the musical performances, the event will feature a graffiti exhibition that reflects the spirit of the July Uprising, alongside an installation titled Mugdha Water Zone.
Commitment to Transparency
On November 12, the organizers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation to ensure that all proceeds from the concert will directly benefit affected families.
A Message of Solidarity
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan expressed his commitment to supporting the charity fund by performing without any fee. The concert is expected to draw an audience of around 20,000 attendees, promising an unforgettable evening of music and unity.
An advisory board consisting of Dhaka University faculty and notable community figures has been established to oversee financial transparency and accountability for the event.
Voices of the Initiative
Speaking on behalf of Spirits of July, student representative Sadekur Rahman Sunny emphasized the concert’s purpose: “This event is not just about music; it’s a demonstration of solidarity with those who sacrificed during the July Uprising.”
