In a powerful demonstration of international solidarity and support for youth empowerment, Muhammad Saeed Shaikh, President of the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA) and the Alliance for Disaster Relief (AFDR), recently completed a fruitful visit to Pakistan. His engagements focused on uplifting underprivileged communities, fostering people-to-people connections, and empowering the next generation through education, sports, and skills training.
One of the key highlights of Shaikh’s visit was his tour of the Sports Skills Development Project led by Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) under its Skills Development and Livelihood Program (SDLP). Accompanied by Adeel Akram, Regional Manager of HHRD Karachi Region, he visited the Jalal ul Din Academy, a hub for nurturing young cricket talent in the city.
The academy is home to a focused under-15 cricket training program supported by Helping Hand USA. The initiative aims to develop not just athletic ability but also the leadership, discipline, and character of young boys from underserved neighborhoods.

During the visit, Coach Harris Khan gave a comprehensive briefing on the progress and goals of the program. He emphasized the commitment of the coaching staff to technical training, physical fitness, mental strength, and holistic personal development.
“Our players come from diverse backgrounds across Karachi,” said Coach Khan. “Over the past three years, this program has provided them with not only professional coaching but also a sense of purpose and discipline — all made possible through the unwavering support of Helping Hand USA.”
Saeed Shaikh expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the academy and the young athletes, praising their passion and perseverance. He reaffirmed the commitment of both the HKSCA and AFDR to continue facilitating people-centered initiatives in Pakistan.
“It’s truly heartening to witness how initiatives like this are transforming lives,” said Shaikh. “As representatives of the Houston community, we believe in building bridges through collaboration, compassion, and shared goals. Youth development is at the heart of sustainable progress, and we are proud to support such meaningful projects.”

This visit is part of a broader mission by the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association and the Alliance for Disaster Relief to strengthen ties between the people of Houston and Karachi. Through cultural exchanges, humanitarian aid, and educational partnerships, both organizations aim to create long-term impact and mutual understanding.
By supporting youth empowerment and community-driven programs, Saeed Shaikh’s visit has once again underscored the power of global partnerships in fostering development, resilience, and hope — one initiative at a time.
