A captivating evening of poetry and cultural unity unfolded in Sugar Land as Taqdees-e-Adab International hosted its signature event, “An Evening of Harmony and Peace,” on Sunday night. The international mushaaira, held at the Hampton Inn, drew a large crowd of Urdu poetry lovers, writers, and community members from across the region.
The highlight of the evening was the performance by renowned poet and Indian Parliamentarian Imran Pratapgarhi, whose verses on justice, unity, and peace left the audience in awe. His poetic expression resonated with the event’s central theme of harmony across cultures.
The mushaaira featured an impressive lineup of established and emerging voices from the global Urdu literary community. Poets such as Lata Haya, Sohail Zarar, Arooj Rais Khan, Basti Jais, Fayyaz Khan Rampuri, and Chandrabhan Khayal offered thought-provoking performances that reflected on love, identity, and shared human experiences.
Additional participants included Amaan Khan Dil, Shaikh Ijaz Ahmad, Dr. Gulzar Nathani, Syed Sarwar Mehdi, Dr. Khalid Razvi, and Salman Jalali, each bringing their unique voice and style to the stage.
The evening began with a community dinner , setting the tone for a night steeped in cultural appreciation. The venue was decorated in traditional South Asian style, enhancing the immersive experience for attendees.
Notable figures such as Shah Ghazali, Nokhaiz Aftab, and Mirza Inayat Afsar were also present, lending further prestige to the gathering.
The event was made possible through the support of community sponsors including Legacy Home Health, Ibn Sina Foundation, and the Urdu Writers Society. Organizers expressed their gratitude to all who attended and supported the effort to promote literary and cultural exchange through the universal language of poetry.
Taqdees-e-Adab International, known for its dedication to preserving and promoting Urdu literature, announced plans for future literary gatherings aimed at fostering dialogue and artistic expression in the South Asian diaspora.
