In light of recent media reports and growing public concern about the future of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) in Pakistan, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) would like to offer clarity and reassurance.
Global UGRAD Program Undergoes Changes – But Continues
The Global UGRAD Program is currently going through some adjustments. However, this does not signal an end to the program. The United States remains deeply committed to building strong people-to-people connections with Pakistan through educational and cultural exchanges.
Today, nearly 11,000 Pakistani students are studying in the US — and American universities continue to welcome new students from Pakistan every year.

USEFP confirms that all 54 Pakistani students currently in the US under the Global UGRAD Program will complete their exchange as planned. They are continuing to receive their stipends and all program benefits without any disruptions.
Fulbright Program Remains Fully Functional
Recent rumors about the Fulbright Program being shut down or leaving students stranded in the US are completely false. The program remains fully operational, and all Fulbright grantees, including those from Pakistan, are receiving the financial support promised to them.
Ongoing Review by US Department of State
The US Department of State is conducting a global review of its exchange programs. This is a routine process to ensure these initiatives stay aligned with current priorities. USEFP promises to keep the public informed as more information becomes available.
Plenty of Opportunities Still Available
Despite recent changes to some programs, many US government-funded exchange opportunities — including the Fulbright Program — continue to be available for Pakistani students and professionals who are passionate about learning and growth.
For updates and more information, please follow USEFP’s official channels.
This statement is part of USEFP’s ongoing effort to be transparent and to reaffirm its commitment to supporting educational exchange and collaboration between the people of Pakistan and the United States.
